This site is intended for users interested in learning more about French phonetics. This site is organized into three areas: consonants, vowels and diphthongs. Each area contains an FPA chart for both sound areas. Clicking on a specific symbol within a chart will provide the following phonetic information:

  • Phonetic Description of the sound.
  • Recording of the sound spoken.
  • Recording of the sound spoken within a word.
  • Spectrograph Image of the sound and the word.

We believe this site provides a useful and easy way to understand French phonetics.
