This site is intended for users interested in learning more about
English phonetics. This site is organized into three areas: consonants, vowels and
diphthongs. Each area contains an EPA chart for both sound areas. Clicking on a specific
symbol within a chart will provide the following phonetic information:
- Phonetic Description of the sound.
- Recording of the sound spoken.
- Recording of the sound spoken within a word.
- Spectrograph Image of the sound and the word.
- Animation of the oral cavity producing the sound.
We believe this site provides a useful and easy way to understand
English phonetics.
